Budding Bloggers Showcase {Sarah from Butterflying through Teaching}

 http://www.teachingmaddeness.com/2014/07/bringing-back-budding-bloggers-showcase.html
Can you believe it's August?!  No tears.  Seriously.  Stop it now!  As we prepare to get back into school mode (I know, I know!), I'd like for you to meet another new blogger today!  Remember to hop over to her blog and leave a little note. ;)

Name: Sarah (or to my kidlets, Miss B!) Blog:

Personal info:

I currently live in Asia, but originally from the UK working at an international school (early mid-life crisis?)

Grade You Teach:

Year 1 according to the British system, I think that might be Kindergarten age-wise

How long have you taught?

September will be the start of my 9th year of teaching

What is your favourite subject to teach?

I adore teaching Phonics, so much fun to be had and the progress is so easy to see

What would we likely see if we popped into your classroom unannounced?

Probably my class Noodling!

What gets you through one of “those” days?

Chocolate and ranty emails to my friend to works next door

What is one “can’t live without” teaching resource?

Mini whiteboards, I use these at least 2 or 3 times a day across multiple subjects, mainly whole class, but also in small groups or independently

Give us a glimpse of your teaching style by sharing a brief summary of a favourite classroom activity/project.

In the Summer Term, one of my favourite units of work is Multimodal Stories, where the children use PowerPoint to create their own versions of a traditional tale. They draw pictures (which I scan), then they insert the images, type up the text, record the sound effects and speech. And that's just the minimum, those more able 'fancy' their work up with fonts, backgrounds, transitions and whatever else they have time to fit in! And best of all these stories are made in mixed ability groups of three, so they all have to work together and help each other.

What is one of your blogging goals for this year?

To make triple figures with my blog followers (and to write things interesting enough to actually find these followers!)
