It's time to link up with Tara again at 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It!!
I'm not gonna lie.  I had BIG plans for Monday Made It this week, but I have 4 projects in the works that just aren't finished yet!!  However, I have been monster-fying my room a little more! :)  I've really been on the lookout for monster rugs (maybe a bathmat?) or beanbags but just haven't had any luck.  So, I decided to try to make some monster chairs of my own!  I like to have enough "cozy reading spots" in my classroom for each of my students to sit during SSR time, so I thought I'd start with some of those.

I had previously made no-sew monster pillows to throw in my rocking chair and saucer chairs.
I had a TON of felt left over from this project, so I decided to use the felt and a little fabric glue to monster-fy my director's chairs.  I removed the backs and got to work!
I think they turned out adorable!!
I didn't stop there though!  I needed to throw out the beanbags I had in my classroom which were badly worn, and since I couldn't find monster ones, I thought I would make my own.  Then, I was at Target and remembered seeing these little things.
When Mr. Madden and I first saw these there, he said, "Those would make good monsters...see the arms and head?"  BUT they were like $25 each.  Ugh...$50 for something I would have to alter?  Nah.  But when I went back they were on sale for $12!!  SCORE!  Especially since they were in my classroom colors - red (close enough anyway) and turquoise!!  I brought those babies home, pulled out the felt and fabric glue again and it was love at first sight!
Don't you think the kiddos will LOVE those??  I think they'll make wonderful reading buddies! :)

Hopefully, my other projects-in-progress will be ready by next week.  Can't wait to look through all of the other Monday Made Its!

I'm also linking up with the "Tell Me More" linky party hosted by Amy at "Step into 2nd Grade with Mrs. Lemons.

The directions say to tell all of our silly quirks....uhhh....apparently, she doesn't know me! :)  I am FULL of silly quirks and as my husband says, they rub off on him more and more every year (sorry, babe!)
1.  I am a germaphobe.  Like seriously.  When we go on vacation, we take a new shower curtain, sheets, comforter, and pillows with us!  I'm VERY picky about where we stay...and I still have problems with it.  {I'm getting the heebie jeebies just thinking about the strangers that were there before me...this is why I need my own beach house :)}

2.  I am an adrenaline junkie.  I LOVE to skydive!!!  The funny thing about it is they say 90% of their summer jumpers are teachers....it must be the stress relief!!

3.  I love to be scared.  Horror and suspense movies and books are the best!  I prefer suspense to horror, but I'll even watch the cheesiest of horror flicks!

4.  Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday.  I don't remember loving it as a child so much, but as an adult I L-O-V-E it!!!  We decorate our house for it, have a dress up/murder mystery party, and have several costumes per year.  Here are a few pics of costumes that I was able to find on this computer.
A witch....my standard favorite for trick-or-treat night.
 A pirate themed year
 Okay, so this wasn't Halloween...it was a Jersey-shore themed party for a sweet friend who was moving to Jersey!

80s...Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!  Yes, I bought a crimper!!
A sexy scientist at a murder mystery party!

5.  I don't eat meat (okay, chicken once in a blue moon)...it's not the principle of the meat....it's the texture.  But, I don't consider myself a vegetarian because I don't really eat vegetables either.  I'm a carbetarian (yep, I totally made that up) which mainly consists of pasta, potatoes, cheese, and bread.  (Boy, oh boy, that's gonna catch up to me!)

6.  I am DEATHLY afraid of spiders.  I really should be in therapy for it.  I've even been reading a book to my class before and when I flipped the page there was a spider on it and I squealed like a baby and dropped the book.  Of course they thought it was the FUNNIEST.THING.EVER!

7.  I do not cook and/or bake.  I like Carrie Bradshaw's idea of using the stove for more shoe space.  I did attempt to cook for my husband once in our 13 years of marriage.  He promptly asked me not to do that again and I obliged. :)  Luckily, he can cook!

8.  I'm a diehard GAMECOCK and can't wait until football season starts!!!  There's nothing like being in the cockpit during the sandstorm or the 2001 entrance!  There's no way I could be in a house-divided marriage...it just wouldn't work.

9.  I'm also a diehard NASCAR fan, which completely shocks most people, but I went to my first race and fell in love with the sport!  I now go to several every year and absolutely NEVER miss a Martinsville race!  I even get pit passes because it makes me giddy to meet some of my favorite people, like Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson!  {My ultimate goal is to meet Mr. H (y'all probably know him better as Mr. Hendrick, as in Emily Maynard's in-laws) and Jeff Gordon}

10.  I LOVE that my husband and I have the same taste in music (for the most part).  We love everything from classic rock to rap to country.  We love going to concerts....this week is AEROSMITH!!

Go ahead and join up to expose all of your quirks! :)

  4. Love the monster crafts! Ok so I grew up a NASCAR fan and my graduation present from high school was a trip to the Coca-Cola 600! College turned me into a football fan and I married a die hard Razorback fan so we may have a small rivalry in November!! Happy Monday!
