Personal info (state/family/pets/interests): Hi! I am Ashley from  Savvy in 2nd Grade. This is my first year blogging and I am SOOO excited. Gabby from Gabbys Classroom designed my BEAUTIFUL blog. I am so in love with it. I live in Maryland just outside of Washington D.C. I am a blessed wife and Mommy of 2 a beautiful baby girl and a curious, energetic "Big" boy. (We he turned for he told me he was officially a big boy and I wasn't allowed to call him my baby anymore). I love living in Maryland home of the blue crab!

Most MAGICAL moment of my life

How long have you taught? /Grade You Teach: I currently teach 2nd Grade and this will be my third year. This is my fifth year teaching and believe it or not I have taught 5 grades. My first year teaching I started out teaching 4th Grade and was  moved to 6th a few weeks into the school year. It was a CRAZY tough year for me.  BUT I learned the most that year. It also inspired me to pursue my MD in counseling.  I LOVE teaching it is truly my passion...my mother and sister are also both teachers it's in my blood. I am all about my family. I enjoy every moment with my husband and kids.

What is your favorite subject to teach?

I fell in love with teaching reading while teaching kindergarten. My biggest fear when I took the kindergarten position was not being able to teach them to read. I was amazed watching my students progress during the year.

What would we likely see if we popped into your classroom unannounced?
If you popped into my classroom, you would most likely see my kids working all around the room and me on the carpet with a group. You might also see my students doing a Brain Break. I LOVE doing brain breaks and they motivate me kiddies so much.

What gets you through one of “those” days?
My husband is absolutely AMAZING. He picks me up when I am down and lets me VENT whenever I need to. Coming home to my son (and now my baby girl too) brings me so much JOY. His laugh and jokes always make a bad day the best day.

What is one “can’t live without” teaching resource?

I can't live without my MacBook or iPad. I can access Class Dojo whoever we are. I can always snap a photo of my kids in action.

Give us a glimpse of your teaching style by sharing a brief summary of a favorite classroom activity/project.

My ALL TIME favorite activity is making OOBLECK. This activity aways baffles my students and I love the conversations this experiment sparks.

What is one of your blogging goals for this year?

My blogging goal for this year is to blog at least once a week and to make connections with other educators.
