2016 Long Range Plans {Template}

The purpose of this post is just to provide those of you who use my long range plan or planning calendar templates with the updated templates for the 2016-2017 school year.  If you want to read more about how I lesson plan and use these, you can read my Lesson Planning blog post series.

This was my view all day long, but my goal was accomplished.  And, now that they're done, I know it will be worth it - these two documents keep me SANE and on track during the school year.

Here's a peek at my long range plans:
Ah!  The one-page per quarter layout is just DREAMY to me!  Haha!  You can download mine or the template that I start with below.  Please use these for your own use, but do not repost or share.  You can feel free to direct others to this post to download for their own use.  Thanks!

My planning calendar shows the timeline for my units in a calendar format, but also lets me add important dates and events.  This stays at the front of my lesson plan binder and I write meetings and notes on it daily.

I hope by sharing my work it saves you some time and helps you get organized for the new school year!

  1. Amanda!!! Thank you so much for sharing your template! I am a visual person and love the quarterly view on one page. I am no longer a classroom teacher, but I am going to try to find a way to use this as a school counselor! :) I am sharing this post with my former 2nd grade team!

  2. I cannot tell you how happy I am that you are sharing this! I am moving to first grade next year and am feeling completely overwhelmed not knowing exactly what I am teaching and when! My grade level team has a chart with everything listed, but it is not as organized as I need it to be! This is going to be a lifesaver for me! Thank you again for sharing :-)-Lisa

  4. Thanks so much! I am a new middle school art teacher and with a few tweaks this will work for my students... Now I don't need to re-invent the wheel!

  5. Thank you so much for sharing your planning calendar and year overview! I love how it looks and you know what is going to be going on at a glance! We do not have a curriculum map at our school, so my 2nd grade team will be creating one soon. This will sure help us get it all planned out!
    Question, did you do yours in Google Docs or in Word??

    Thank you again!

    1. It is a format I have used for many years so unfortunately it was created in Word. :)

  6. Thank you very much for sharing your long range plans and year overview! I usually write my LRP on lined paper, adding columns with my ruler, and taping extra lined paper on the bottom so it is all there! Can you picture that?? So, thank you for sharing your easy on the eyes, professional looking templates!!!

    1. I'm not sure why it isn't working for your Kim. Maybe sign into your Google account? It is saved to Google Drive. I've heard that sometimes school servers block downloads so that could also be the problem. Here's a tutorial that may help, too - http://www.thetattooedteacher.com/tutorial-how-to-download-file-fro/

  12. Hello,
    I love what you have shared but jut like Kim Norgaard, the links don't work. When I click on the pdf link, it takes me to a new tab in Bloglovin but the page is completely blank. I'm signed in and it still won't work. Do you know what cold be wrong or how to fix this? Thank you in advance :)

  14. Thank you for sharing. I'm going from private school to public school and the principal informed us that she would like us to do long term planning. That seemed very overwhelming to me at the time, but with your templates it feels like it can be done.
