Right now, my text feature unit and animal research unit are separate, but I would love to combine them! Thanks for sharing! Also, I see you mention your Celebrations a lot. Do you have a blog post that tells more about them somewhere? I would love to hear more!

Kate
EduKate and InspireKate @ EduKate and Inspirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13649621462275576220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533213618539100325.post-1538969939086542032012-06-20T22:08:43.448-04:002012-06-20T22:08:43.448-04:00So glad to have stumbled upon your blog. I have them create posters with at least 4 different text features. We use your posters as guides and display them in the hallway. The older kids are always reading them while waiting for the morning bell! Maybe they'll learn something!Rachel Lambhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11163039671169857119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533213618539100325.post-57069393452063806642012-06-20T12:55:17.593-04:002012-06-20T12:55:17.593-04:00Yes! It's great for them to see that some nonfiction books have realistic drawings rather than photos. ;) I love the idea about Autobiographies...I've considered that in the past, but never had time to fit it in. Using it as a take-home activity is brilliant! {adding to must do list}Amanda Maddenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18367000318878641477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533213618539100325.post-87547035049880068392012-06-20T09:51:58.164-04:002012-06-20T09:51:58.164-04:00My students always love when we read nonfiction. ...My students always love when we read nonfiction. 2nd graders love learning about animals so I usually do a Gail Gibbons author study at the same time. ( I got that idea from you.)

This past year I wanted to add autobiographies, but never got around to it. This year I plan to start that writing as a homework assignment. Then I will have to find the time to work that into writing.

http://secondgradelockerroom.blogspot.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05852459384046522888noreply@blogger.com
